A JOAO Carlos double sent Millers on their way to three points at doomed relegation candidates Witham.
Carlos rifled home the opener on 36 minutes, but the hosts forced visiting keeper James Marrable into a great save from new signing Steve Joyce. But Carlos grabbed a second on 55 minutes.
Carlos saw his hat-trick hopes ended when Rhys Madden in the home goal saved his penalty, but Millers went out of sight when new striker signing Bryan Hammett grabbed a third 20 minutes from time.
Aveley will look to take over top spot with home victory over Concord Rangers tonight.
