AVELEY arrived at Wingate and Finchley’s north London ground to find one of the eight floodlight towers not working and the match was postponed by the match officials who said it was difficult to see the lines in the penalty area.

The problem had reportedly been known to the league and home club for several days and Wingate may well face punishment for not re-arranging a venue or calling the match off earlier.
