JOE Keith’s first game in charge of Tilbury ended in defeat as his side were edged out 5-4 on penalties at Harlow Town in the Essex Senior Cup.

The Dockers drew 0-0 with the Isthmian Premier League club after 90 minutes only for the game to go straight to spot-kicks.

And one miss proved costly for Tilbury as they crashed out at the third round stage.

Justin Gardner got the better of his former employers as his Barking side condemned Aveley to a 2-1 defeat in the Isthmian North.

Aveley took the lead after just six minutes, Ross Gleed with an accomplished finish over goalkeeper Ollie Bowles from close range.

Former Miller Abs Seymour smashed the crossbar for Barking in reply, with the same man spectacularly denied by Rhys Madden in the away goal.

But the hosts were to draw level shortly after the second-half got underway.

Former Grays Athletic striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason got on the edge of a cross to level off the underside of the crossbar.

George Doyle came close on two occasions for the Millers but Barking forged ahead in the final five minutes.

Seymour was to get his goal, smashing home after the ball was played into his path.

The result means new manager James Webster remains on the hunt for his first win after four games at the helm.
