AVELEY threw away a two-goal lead in James Webster's first match in charge as Soham Town Rangers battled back for a point.

The Millers appointed Webster as Terry Spillane's successor on Tuesday and the former Brightlingsea Regent boss was hoping to make a winning start to his reign at Parkside.

And Aveley started well, with Jordan Watson giving the hosts a 13th minute lead.

With the Millers in the ascendancy, they doubled their lead just eight minutes later as Adam Bolle found the back of the net.

Despite holding a comfortable lead, Soham Town Rangers hit back after the break.

Lee Chaffey pulled a goal back to give the visitors hope.

And as the Isthmian North clash ticked into the 90th minute, Craig Gillies found a way past Aveley goalkeeper Rhys Madden to allow Soham Town Rangers to claim a share of the spoils.

Grays Athletic secured a thumping 5-0 win at Ware, with a new signing impressing.

A Prince Madu own goal just before the half hour mark broke the deadlock, while Sam Cross doubled Grays' advantage three minutes later to put Jamie Stuart's side fully in control.

Tim Monsheju, who recently joined Grays from Isthmian North rivals Witham Town, netted his first goal for the club on 63 minutes.

Kieran Bishop added his name to the scoresheet seven minutes before time, while Monsheju completed the scoring late on.

Stanley Muguo was dismissed in the dying moments as he picked up a second yellow card, but Stuart will have been delighted with his side's dominant display.

Elsewhere, an own goal resulted in Tilbury being defeated by Hertford Town.

The Dockers, who are currently without a manager following the resignation of Gary Henty, fell to a 2-1 defeat at Chadfields.

Emiel Aiken, who has been in impressive form in front of goal this season, was on target once again as he opened the scoring on 25 minutes.

It looked as though Tilbury would be heading into half-time with a slender lead, but Hertford Town equalised two minutes before the break through Brett O'Connor.

And the visitors were able to snatch all three points after substitute Charlie Little put through his own net with 14 minutes remaining.
