AVELEY have announced five more signings ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Millers welcomed 12 new players to the Ryman North club last week.

But manager Terry Spillane has continued his business this summer by adding another five names to the squad.

Harry Gibbs, Max Mitchell and Gaz Dauti have agreed to re-sign for the Millers after an impressive campaign in 2016/17.

And Danny Johnson and Phil Lowen have confirmed that they will join the club in their first season at Parkside.

Johnson, who can operate in defence or midfield, has experience of working under Spillane before.

The former AFC Hornchurch man was captain of Spillane’s Maldon & Tiptree side, while also skippering ex-club Potters Bar Town.

Spillane was delighted to secure Johnson’s services.

The Aveley boss said: “Danny’s a strong, determined player, whose leadership qualities have led him to be captain at Potters Bar Town and for myself at Maldon & Tiptree.”

Midfielder Lowen joins from Hertford Town, who were recently promoted from the Spartan South Midlands Football League Premier Division.

Lowen has also enjoyed previous spells with Ryman Premier League side Enfield Town and Hoddesdon Town.

Spillane added: “Phil is a goalscoring centre midfield playmaker and a good technical player who has great vision.”
