AVELEY won their penultimate home game of the season in resounding fashion after seeing off Heybridge Swifts 3-0.

The Millers scored either side of half-time, thanks to goals from Hussain Jaffa and Michael Toner, although the best of the bunch came from Mason Bloomfield, who scored a 30-yard screamer to round off the result.

Aveley needed the points to keep alive their faint play-off hopes, while Swifts were still looking to book their place in the division come the end of the month.

Aveley were the better side, with Jordan Peart cross causing chaos before an ensuing strike was cleared off the line.

The opener came four minutes before half-time. Joe Clark’s cross was volleyed in Jaffa for his third goal in two matches.

It took just two minutes of the second-half for Aveley to double their advantage.

Bloomfield fed Toner and he powered home from 20 yards to the jubilation of the 303-strong crowd.

The former was denied a third before the on-loan Dagenham & Redbridge man did get on the scoresheet.

Bloomfield drove a fine strike into the goal and it could have been worse.

Billy Coyne missed a late penalty but it was game over by then.
