AVELEY returned to winning ways with a 2-0 triumph over Soham Town Rangers.

The first goal came after two minutes, with Jeremiah Maja on target as he slotted home from close range.

Lamar Johnson made two good saves in the Aveley goal while Dan Odamo was required to keep the lead intact with a goal-line clearance.

Mason Bloomfield was halted on the stroke of half-time by away stopper Niall Conroy, while the same man came even closer soon after but his header cannoned off the bar.

Wale Odedoyin struck wide on his debut for the Millers with 20 minutes remaining but the second goal was to come in the final 15 minutes.

Ross Gleed’s corner was swung in and Odamo, effective at the other end in the first half, powered a header home to put the home team firmly in control.

The impressive Billy Coyne almost added a third late on but two goals were enough in the end as Aveley kept alive their faint play-off hopes.
