Aveley 2-0 Dereham Town

(Bloomfield 24’, 78’)

From Mill Field

Ryman North

A MASON Bloomfield double was enough to ensure that Aveley’s promotion push remains on track.

The attacker struck midway through the first half to give the Millers a deserved lead.

Michael Toner’s challenge on Dereham Town goalkeeper Josh Glover resulted in the ball falling to Bloomfield, who rounded the keeper and tapped home to put the home side ahead.

Aveley had chances extend their lead before the break, but Dereham held on to go in at the break only a goal down.

The away side grew in confidence in the early stages of the second half, and came close to finding an equaliser as the visitors hit the crossbar.

But the Millers secured all three points when Bloomfield completed his brace after 78 minutes.

The striker converted after getting on the end of an excellent cross from Danny McCullock.

The win saw Aveley climb up to third in the Ryman North standings, and the Millers are level on points with second-placed Thurrock.

Terry Spillane’s side now go into Friday’s trip at local rivals AFC Hornchurch full of confidence and looking to build on an impressive run of five league games unbeaten.
