AFC Sudbury 3–1 Aveley

A STRONG first-half showing condemned Aveley to defeat at high-flying AFC Sudbury.

The Millers were comfortably beaten at Sudbury, and the tone was set early on in the game.

Joe Maybanks grabbed the opening goal as he broke upfield, following an Aveley attack, and buried his effort beyond the dive of James Marrable.

Liam Nash was looking the most likely outlet for Aveley, with his movement causing problems for the home defence.

But it was 2-0 before the Millers could respond. A lapse in concentration from Spencer Harrison saw Craig Parker profit, as he jinked through to prod past Marrable.

And on 36 minutes it was effectively over. Luke Callander had acres of space to find the net and complete a miserable half for Justin Gardner’s side.

And the away side were still struggling after the interval. Callander missed another chance but Michael Pindy enjoyed a day to remember.

The young debutant came onto the field and scored with 15 minutes remaining.

Abs Seymour crossed and substitute Pindy found the net, but it came too little too late.
