Aveley 2–2 Dereham Town

From Mill Field

Ryman One North

AVELEY came from behind to secure a point against Dereham Town in a topsy-turvy match at Mill Field.

The Millers had Billy Holland and David Fallah to thank for their goals, with the latter a delightful solo effort.

And the home team will be frustrated at the individual errors that crept into their game to allow Dereham to take a point from the encounter.

Aveley started positively, with Petrit Elbi beating the goalkeeper with his shot, but not the covering defender on the line.

But it was Fallah, who was lively all game, who made the opening that brought the first goal.

A swift counter-attack saw Fallah take on his man and tumble over in the penalty area, with Holland walloping home from 12 yards.

Aveley goalkeeper James Marrable had to be at his best to deny Dereham as they stepped up their response, while Aveley also missed guilt-edged chances to score.

And, on the stroke of half-time, Dereham levelled. Joe Oseyemi had his pocket picked by Ryan Crisp and he was able to fire the ball past Marrable.

And 30 seconds into the second period, Justin Gardner’s side found themselves behind.

Sam Borrer pounced on a weak Spencer Harrison clearance and he found the net to hand Dereham the lead.

Dereham missed several golden opportunities to extend the lead and they were punished by the on-form Fallah.

Working his way into the box, the attacker lost his marker and drilled a fine effort high into the top corner.

Both sides had chances to win but a share of the spoils was arguably a fair result.
