Aveley 3-2 Waltham Abbey

From Mill Field

Ryman One North

DAVID Fallah smashed in a late winner for Aveley against Waltham Abbey to secure a fine win.

Having led 2-0, it appeared Justin Gardner’s men had thrown away the chance of victory, only for the new addition to score a fine late winner.

Two goals in two first-half minutes had put the home side in control, and Tyler Myers got the match going in the first six minutes. Ahmed Deen’s free-kick was met by Junior Baker and his cross/shot was well finished by the onrushing Myers.

Less than 60 seconds later, it was 2-0 as Fallah cut in and bent home a fine effort.

The Millers had chances to add to the lead, but 10 minutes before the break their advantage had been halved - Jack Daveney blasting home after a break.

Matt Attard got the equaliser on the hour mark, after some slack marking saw the unmarked Abbey man tap home.

Both sides exchanged chances, as Aveley looked to restore their lead with Baker hitting the post, but it wasn’t until injury-time that the goal came.

And Fallah made his chance count, to hand Aveley the points.
