Cheshunt 2-1 Aveley

AVELEY’s struggles continued as they were downed by Cheshunt to leave them winless in their last seven outings.

Millers, who had a chance of making the play-offs at the start of the month, have struggled in March and now find themselves 13 points off fifth place.

Marcus Milner came close early on for Cheshunt and rounded the goalkeeper James Marrable only for George Essuman to slide in superbly to clear the danger.

Matt Toms was the next man to come close but his header, which beat Marrable could not beat the woodwork.

Cheshunt were pressing, with Ted Llewlleyn striking over the bar and Adam Bolle denied by Marrable.

Aveley were struggling to make an impression and it took more than 35 minutes for the first shot to come, as Jack Stevenson saw his effort tipped away.

Justin Gardner’s side got to half-time on level terms but couldn’t hold out.

Mitch Hahn put the home team in front, shooting high past Marrable at the near post.

Stevenson saw an effort pushed wide before Aveley did draw level.

Robbie Farrell got the goal after Toms misplaced a ball back to his goalkeeper, with the striker nipping in well.

Aveley pressed and Danny Francis came close. However, it was Joe Clemo who had the last laugh as he crashed home from 25 yards with 60 seconds left on the clock.
