Aveley continued their winning run away at Romford as they made it seven wins in a row in the Ryman League North.

Justin Gardner’s side have been on an incredible streak with nine victories in all competitions since their opening two defeats of the season.

The game at Romford was thought to be a tough test for Aveley but the visitors managed to demonstrate their attacking prowess in the latter stages of the match to ensure Aveley climbed one spot to fourth.

After a goalless first half, the hosts conceded after a poor defensive header fell to Aveley defender Junior Baker who nodded the ball down to Spencer Harrison to smash home the opener.

The lead was short-lived though as Aveley conceded just their fourth goal in seven games. Romford counter-attacked swiftly after falling behind and the ball was thread through to Tom Richardson who slotted past the onrushing James Marrable.

The away team re-established their advantage just after the hour mark after heaps of pressure on the Borough goal. Teddy Nesbitt’s corner to the back post picked out Junior Baker and he thumped home a header.

Their triumph was assured six minutes from time after another defensive lap in the Borough defence. Marcus Elliot latched on to a short back-header and slid the ball across for substitute Aaron Gayle to round off a very professional performance from the in-form Millers.
