Aveley 1-3 Redbridge

By Scott Hatley at Mill Field

AVELEY's miserable run of form continued as they were soundly beaten by Redbridge at Mill Field in a feisty encounter.

Two goals in three minutes from Stephen Good set the visitors on their way to a deserved three points as Aveley’s susceptibility to the aerial ball continued to show.

Good headed the visitors in front after just 10 minutes with a looping header over stranded 'keeper Jack Giddens.

The centre half was then on hand to tap in the rebound after Jay Leader had inadvertently headed onto his own crossbar to make it 2-0 after only 13 minutes.

Kyle Asante scored his first goal for the Millers to reduce the arrears before the break with a simple tap-in, and an encouraging start to the second half gave hope that Justin Gardner’s side may be able to find an equaliser.

However that equaliser never materialised and a mass brawl midway through the second period – following an apparent stamp on Giddens – almost threatened to send the match into disarray.

After the dust had settled Daniel Charge secured the points for the away side, finding himself unmarked at the far post before smashing his strike in off the underside of the bar.

Justin Gardner's side have only picked up one win in the last eight matches, and travel to high-flying Witham Town on Tuesday.
