FOREST chairman Isaac Johnson’s pre-match boast that new player-manager Olawale Ojelabi is the man to lead them to safety looks set to ring true.
For the relegation-haunted side went to leaders Aveley and pulled off the shock of the day by ending Millers’ unbeaten home record.
Aveley, who had winger Craig Bristow carried off after eight minutes following a high late tackle, could not find their form and went behind to a Gary Richford 58th minute goal. And Joel Palmer made certain of the points that lifted the visitors out of the bottom two 15 minutes from time.
Aveley will look for further progress, and a good crowd, at home tonight when well-supported runaway Premier leaders Dover Athletic arrive for a third round League Cup visit.
