Aveley 3 Brentwood Town 0

AVELEY gave boss Justin Gardner the perfect wedding present as they sunk Brentwood in style on Saturday.

Gardner, who tied the knot on Friday, was at the game but delegated responsibility to his assistant Victor Renner.

The win, Aveley’s first at home in the league, puts them in sixth place in Ryman One North. Millers have two games in hand over fourth, third and second and currently boast the best away record in the division.

Junior Dadson fired Millers into the lead after 13 minutes, with former Aveley defender Ryan Doyle, turning Junior Appiah’s cross into his own net, doubling the hosts lead five minutes later.

Rashid Kamara then added the key third goal.

His strike came in the 34th minute as his goal wrapped the game up for Millers even before the half time whistle had been blown.

Late in the second half, Town’s Lee Blackburn was sent off for going into a tackle with his studs up and in the 90th minute, Billy Holland squandered the chance to make it 4-0 when his spot-kick was saved by Elliot Justham.

On Twitter later, Gardner praised his team. He said: “Best wedding present my lads got me was three points and a clean sheet today, absolutely love that.”
