Folkestone cannot cope with Thames Ladies power and speed in rugby clash

Thames Ladies 36
WOMENS RUGBY: THAMES Ladies headed to Folkestone for their first game of the season and – having narrowly lost to Folkestone last season – the Toucanettes were determined to come home victorious.
The game began with fearsome competition for the ball at rucks with forwards from both teams fighting to give their team the advantage. The first try of the game came from winger Shiv Allison following some brilliant work from the backs.
Fly half Fran Parry nearly carried the ball over the line but was held up giving Thames an important 5 meter scrum.
Scrum half Jen Emerson made the most of the advantage by going blind and scoring the second try for Thames. Emerson later made a break through the Folkestone lineout to score her second try of the game. Forwards Tara Harris and Kate Fisher made a great run for a try following a penalty and narrowly missed scoring when the ball was kicked from Harris’ hands.
At the start of the second half the score was 24-10, but fullback Megan Hasler soon added another five points to the Thames scorecard with a strong run. Emerson finished the game with her third try seconds before the final whistle bringing the score to 36-10 and giving Thames’ their all-important win.
Thames ladies have been training hard throughout the summer and still welcome new players to this season’s squad. If you are interested in playimng or training with the Thames Ladies team, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
