Borough's Youth Indoor cricket latest

CRICKET: BELHUS Cricket Club dominated the second week of the youth indoor cricket league at Grays School following comfortable wins by both teams.

The Belhus ‘A’ team achieved success by six wickets over Stanford le Hope as Zak Wilson scored 29 not out while Tyler Kohl added valuable support with an undefeated 16, as Belhus replied with 77 without loss in reply to Stanford’s 73 for 5, for whom Owen Ryley top scored.

For Belhus, Billy Turley, 1-17, Ciaran Gunning 2-23, Wilson 1-16 and Kohl 1-8, were the wicket takers. Meanwhile Belhus ‘B’ chased down Orsett's 86 all out by responding with 90 for 2 with five balls to spare.

Reece Scott top scored for Orsett with 20 and Sam Watson offered assistance with ten runs in the face of good bowling from Henry Benson, 1-9, Billy Manley, 2-11 and Jamie Fairweather, 1-24.

Main contributors in the Belhus reply were Jude Ranson with 25 not out, while George Benson and Manley were both undefeated on 12 and 10 respectively. Rajan Kular emerged as the pick of the Orsett attack with 1-10 from two overs.

Tonight’s fixture list (Friday October 12) will see Thurrock Cricket Club make local indoor cricket history as they become the first club to field three sides at the same age group. Fixtures: 6pm - Thurrock ‘A’ v Thurrock ‘B’; 7pm - Thurrock ‘C’ v Belhus ‘A’; 8pm - Basildon and Pitsea v Orsett.

THURROCK Umpires and Scorers are holding courses for those aspiring to become Umpires/Scorers or just to learn more about the Laws of cricket. The first meeting will be held at Tilbury Community Centre on Wednesday October 17 from 7.45pm. All welcome.
