Horsham defeated by Thurrock FC

Horsham 0,

Thurrock 2

FA CUP: THURROCK put in an industrious performance to secure their passage into the third qualifying round.

Fola Orilonishe scored the opener after 36 minutes, rounding off a smart move by getting on the end of a Leroy Griffiths’ cross to slot under the Horsham keeper from close range.

After the break, Horsham pushed on for an equaliser, but Thurrock with Richie Jones and Matt Turpin the two newboys in their back four held firm.

As the hosts comitted themselves to attacks, Thurrock took advantage. A long ball from midfield landed at the feet of the unmarked Charlie Stimson who proceeded to round the keeper and put the game beyond doubt with 14 minutes remaining.

Welling faced Concord Rangers in a replay on Wednesday night. Fleet will travel to the winner of that game for their third qualifying round match.

Thurrock: Viner; Jones, Griffin, Turpin, Walster; Thurgood, Jefferies, Perkins, Griffiths; Stimson, Orilonishe.
