Improved away performanc by Hammers

SPEEDWAY: THE Lakeside Hammers delivered a much improved away performance at Wolverhampton, but were left to rue a missed opportunity, after leading their hosts by eight points after heat 12.
With the score at  32-40 in the Hammers’ favour, the home team responded by delivering three 5-1s in the final three heats to win 47-43.
On a night when fellow play off contenders the Eastbourne Eagles lost away at Belle Vue, the Hammers still picked up a valuable away point, but were left wondering just what might have been if they had managed to maintain their early meeting dominance.
Hammers heat leader and former Wolves rider Peter Karlsson showed his knowledge of the Monmore Green track, top scoring for the Essex based club with 12 points, backed by Kim Nilsson on a return to form and a battling reserve display from Justin Sedgman both with eight points respectively.
Overall scoreline: Wolverhampton Wolves 47, Lakeside Hammers 43.
