Club swimming gala a huge success

THURROCK Swimming Club welcomed nearly 150 swimmers to its annual 3T’s Gala at Blackshots.
The event pits three teams – split equally by ability and age – competing in either a one width or one length freestyle and backstroke race. Swimmers aged from five to 12 competed in this year’s event special gala.
Each team donned their appropriate colours led by team managers, Julie Morris and Vickie Bell (red team); Debra Astbury and Chelsea Coker (white team) and Francesca Day and Wendy Wood (blue team).
Renae Dawes, Bethany Bryne, Maggie Wood, Darcey Morris, Martine Tran, Georgia Hobson, Annabel Speers and Andrew Martindale – all swimmers from the National Age Group Squad – gave up afternoon to support the club’s younger squad.
After just over two hours of swimming the Blue Team emerged as winners.
