Stanford go fourth

CRICKET: IN SNEL Division two Stanford are placed fourth following their 84-run Thurrock derby win at home to fifth-placed Horndon on the Hill.

Martin Leslie (30) and Ross Poulton (30) led the way for Stanford in their declared total of 186-9, with Connor Price taking 3-27 and Jeff West 3-35.

Gary Sanderson (5-22), Lee Knight (2-6) and Poulton (2-22) did the damage with the ball to bowl Horndon out for 102, with Terry Hurrell (24) and Kashif Nizami (24) top-scoring.

Belhus are eighth and Westcliff ninth after their drawn match at Chalkwell Park in a close encounter at the weekend.

Joe Joyce hit 88 and Gavin Jefferies 54 before Belhus declared on 220-7, with Adam Pickering (2-44), Nicholas Charlwood (2-46) and Tim Wade (2-28) claiming two scalps each. Peter Barnes clubbed 132 for Westcliff as they posted 217-8 in reply against an attack led by Connor Day (4-50) and Billy Winter (3-35).
