Vaughan happy with Tilbury progress

PAUL Vaughan is pleased with how preparations for the new season are progressing at Chadfields.

His Tilbury side travelled to North London on Saturday to take on Haringey Borough. The two sides shared the spoils after Tilbury squandered a two-goal lead in the second half, with the game ending 2-2.

New signings Jack Carlisle and Ellis Skidmore featured in the first half, impressing the boss. Emiel Aiken, who has just signed a new deal, netted a brace for the Dockers before a side of trialists emerged for the second period.

Two Haringey penalties gave the home side a deserved home draw.

Vaughan told the Gazette: “Pre-season is going alright. I’m pleased. We’re about a week behind after having a game cancelled but the Haringey game was good. They’re a decent side and it was a good test for us.

“The boys are always a bit rusty at this time, but the first half was good. We played the ball about well and i’m sure we would have gone onto win comfortably if we’d kept the first eleven out for the second half. But what we saw of the team was good.

“We’ve got a few new signings. Jack Carlisle, a central midfielder who is the sort of player I like, he’s young but can put a shift in and Ellis Skidmore who has travelled around a bit but he’s a forward who suits us well.”

Tilbury have also announced the signings of ex-Millwall youth player Martin Llewellyn, ex-Southend United youngster James Smith and Aaron Walters, who rejoins the club.
