Anglers among the fish from East Anglia's beaches and estuaries

SEA ANGLING: BOROUGH sea anglers have the chance to get among the fish this week, if reports from around the region continue to come good.

Southend Barge Pier: The highlight is some garfish making an appearance for the first time in years. Dogfish, bass and mackerel have also been caught from the Shoebury venue.

Southend Pier: Gars, bass, dogfish and mackerel have been landed.

Southend Beaches: Anglers have caught flounders and schoolies.

Chalkwell: The chance of a decent mullet.

Thamesmead: An abundance of flounders are providing sport, with good anglers averaging 13 fish a session.

Erith: Founders are being landed but sport is sparse.

Gravesend: Graham from Dolphin Angling reports bass to 6lb, soles to 1.5lb, plus flounders and eels.

Greenhythe: Bass and flounders.

River Crouch: Anglers have reported skate and the occasional bass.

River Roach: Flounders, eels and the occasional schoolie have been caught.

Boats: Charter and private boat skippers have reported skate, smoothounds, spur dog, bass and codling.

And a commercial netman fishing out of St Osyth caught and released a whopping 71lb stingray.
