Touring Car success for West Thurrock track outfit

MOTORSPORT: WEST Thurrock’s AmDtuning team begged an important hat-trick of points finishes at Thruxton at the weekend.

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship contenders proved their worth in the wet at Hampshire.

Their turbo-powered VW Golf was driven by Ollie Jackson and the driver went into the weekend determined to make amends for a tough weekend of bending his car at Donington Park.

In the first race Jackson secured 13th on the grid in the only session where dry tyres were used.

Jackson posted the sixth quickest lap en-route to 12th place.

And in race two Jackson was on the pace again, but his chances of a top ten result where hit when he slid off, made a quick pit stop nd then cross the line in 15th to score the final point.

Like many of the field, the team stayed with slicks on the front – but as the field completed the green flag lap before the start, the heavens opened.

And Ollie had no option but to pit at the end of lap one to fit wet tyres.

But Jackson battled back into 15th to take his third points finish of the day, leaving him 18th in the championship and 14th amongst the independents.

“We were up against it in the conditions and it’s a bit of a shame that we had such good race pace and didn’t quite get the results to match it,” he said.
