Aveley hit hard by Hendon

RYMAN PREMIER: In their final game in the Ryman Premier the Millers slipped to an embarrassing 7-1 loss at the hands of Hendon.
Aveley’s three-year spell in the Ryman Premier ended with a whimper as they were smashed for seven by visitors Hendon.
If truth be told there was little to separate the sides in the opening 45 minutes as the hosts saw a Steven Demetriou shot saved by Berkley Laurencin and Paul Burnett effort blocked.
Referee Nolan Wilde then awarded the Greens a penalty when debutant keeper Steve Brown brought down a Hendon attacker in the box and Greg Ngoyi slotted home.
Wilde himself came off with an injury and was replaced by one of his assistants, Paul Howard, who then awarded Gary McCann’s side another penalty five minutes into the second half when Liam Thomas pulled down Scott Shulton.
Shulton converted the spot kick himself before some haphazard defending from the hosts gifted Isaiah Rankin a nine-minute hat-trick to put the visitors 5-0 up and the result beyond any doubt.
It got worse for the Millers as substitute Elliott Charles converted number six, though the Millers were awarded a penalty of their own for handball.
But that chance went begging as sub Kayan Kalipha saw his weak effort saved by Laurencin.
They did manage to pull one back eight minutes from time when Thomas headed home from Jack Stevenson’s corner but another Hendon sub, Elliott Godfrey added insult to injury with a seventh in stoppage time after Jerome Federico squared the ball across unselfishly to an unmarked Godfrey.
Aveley: Steve Brown, Liam Thomas, Sam Holloway, Jack Stevenson, AJ Olatunbosun, Steve Willis, Steve Demetriou (Kayan Kalipha 58), Alfred Kamara, Daniel Francis (Sheldon Sellears 65), Paul Burnett (Junior Appiah 72)..
Unused subs: Karl Blake, Abs Thompson.
