BASEBALL: BUDDING baseball star Conner Brown has become a Great Britain cadet – just two years after taking up the sport.
The 13-year-old from Langdon Hills began in the game by attending an open day with the Forest Glade Redbacks at their Barleylands base.
And in the space of just 24 months he has gone on to receive an international call up.
“Conner just loved baseball straight away,” said his mum Paula.
“He had been playing football up until then. But he gave that up for baseball and he’s been doing really well.”
Brown, who trains in Milton Keynes as well as with the Redbacks, plays as a catcher, and is keen to continue progressing in the sport.
“Conner’s dream is to get a scholarship in America,” added Paula.
“There aren’t too many opportunities in this country to go in baseball but the academy Conner goes to has links with American colleges and he’s interested in going over there.”
