RUGBY: TEES Under 12s team came home from the Essex Festival as winners of the Vase final. Pitched into a strong group consisting of Upminster, Braintree and Woodford, they were outplayed in the group stages.
They then lined up in theVase semi final against the B team from hosts Westcliff. Suddenly finding some form which had been missing all day, they managed a 10-0 win with tries from Kieron Yeomans and Swaley Harman.
In the final they were up against Eton Manor. After a keenly fought start it was Thurrock who broke the deadlock when Ciaran O'Brien picked the ball up from the back of a ruck close to the Eton Manor line and powered it over to put Thurrock ahead.
The second half saw Thurrock stretch their lead with a neat bit of work by Ted Barker touching down from a Thurrock penalty and a fine weaving run from Morgan Thompson to seal the score at 15-0.
