BOXING: Two Essex boxers will fight for charity in memory of their young nephew who died suddenly from a heart condition.
Steve Austin will face debutant Scott Waters at the Liquid & Envy club at Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, on Sunday, February 27.
They will be fighting in memory of Jay Waters, who died suddenly from cardiomyopathy during a PE lesson at William de Ferrers School, South Woodham Ferrers, in September 2009.
All proceeds from the bout will go to the Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA), a charity that helps people and their families affected by the heart muscle disease.
The fight is on the under-card on an event organised by the Independent Boxing Association, which has already staged shows at venues in Essex.
The night will also feature a heavyweight bout between Benfleet’s Jim Foot and Joe “Cool” Kacz from South London.
Tickets cost £30 and will be available on the door.
