Tilbury 2, Leyton 1 DOCKERS came out top dogs in this Ryman League Division One North clash.

Tilbury were hosts to Leyton FC on Saturday and the visitors were without a league or Cup win since October 2009.

No less than six debuts were made for Leyton.

They faced a Dockers outfit almost at full strength.

Donny Barnard was missing due to a pulled calf muscle. And the strong bench included new striker Jared Small from Barking FC of the Essex Senior League.

Leyton kicked off but Tilbury took the initiative.

In the second minute of the game, Chris Taylor swung the ball across goal into the path of Ben Bradbury and from eight yards out the Tilbury youngster smashed the ball into the net.

The Dockers kept the pressure up and after 14 minutes Christian Wheeler tried a shot from the edge of the area. However, Leyton’s keeper palmed the ball away for a corner.

In the 19th minute and the Dockers extend their lead.

Manlee Brown produced a defence splitting pass over the top of the advancing Leyton defenders.

And man of the match Ben Bradbury timing his run to perfection, collecting the ball and coolly taps the ball over the head of the advancing keeper.

Tilbury continued to pin back their guests. Brown’s solo effort drew a great save from the Leyton keeper and Bradley Barnes smashed the ball over the bar.

In the second half Dockers Bradbury looked to have be brought down in the box but match oOfficial Mr. McCoy waved play on as the stranded Bradbury looked bewildered sitting in the mud with arms aloft.

Chances went begging for the Dockers. Bradbury once more tormented the Leyton defence an struck the post.

But in the 55th minute Leyton pulled level against the run of play.

Leyton substitute Dom Pendergrast slotted home from just inside the box after some good work down the left by Ivo Ginlv.

After the goal Leyton looking more in control as they started threaten Dockers.
