Millers will go to Billericay tonight (Monday) confident after weekend display

Aveley 2, Maidstone United 0 Aveley will go into tonight’s home Essex derby with Billericay Town in confident mood after easing their own relegation fears with Saturday’s win over the Kent visitors.

Against disappointing opponents who failed to seriously trouble Ollie Morris-Sanders in the home goal, the Millers took an eighth-minute lead through Ryan Doyle.

After a bad league run had seen them falling towards the drop zone, Aveley had boosted their spirits with a good League Cup win over AFC Hornchurch on Monday.

And they made certain of the three points here when top scorer Martin Touhy scored the second goal after 63 minutes with a delightful lob for his 13th league goal of the season.
