SPEEDWAY: Pitsea speedway rider Rhys Naylor picked up a single point from his latest races in the Extreme International Ice Racing (XIIR) series in North America.
The 16-year-old former Chalvedon School pupil finished fourth in his first ride at St Charles in Missouri.
But the former Lakeside Hammers mascot picked up a point in his second race for finishing third.
He admitted he was not fully fit from the bruising he sustained while racing in Elmira, New York, the previous weekend.
“I was still feeling the effects from my heavy fall but was comfortable in the first race in second place when I drifted wide only to finish fourth,” said Naylor.
“I had to really work hard for the point in the second race but I was not really fit enough, although at least I stayed on this time!”
Naylor will he will be hoping for better this weekend when he travels to Oshawa in Ontario, Canada, for the next round of the XIIR series.
