PIGEONS: The Grays Social race from Retford saw nine members send 89 birds.

Results were: 1st Peter Smith (velocity 1340); 2nd Doug Newland 1338; 3rd and 4 Fred Baines 1335 1333; 5th Harry Roberts 1325; 6th Bugg and son 1311.

This weekend sees the locals race from Thurso in the London NR Combine. Pigeons can be release anytime from Friday as this weekend’s big race is in over 500 miles and can take birds two days to complete.

Racers expected to do well include Robbie Wilton and Albert Roberts and son.

l The Tilbury South Road race from Poole: 1st A Wilton and Orton 1525; 2nd/4th/5th D Wilton and son 1524/1521/1519; 3rd and 6th F Ager 1523/1519.

l Tilbury’s North Road Flying Club saw five members enter 101 birds from Retford. The result was dominated by two in-form partnerships who shared the 6 positions.

l Harry and Margaret Leeman led the way taking 1st, 4th and 5th places with 1375, 1355 and 1353, and Chris and Timmy North filled 2nd, 3rd and 6th spots on 1364, 1358 and 1325.

l The Tilbury Football Club Flying Club rac from Newark saw eight members send 124 birds. 1st N Martin 1363; 2nd Bain and Holcombe 1359; 3rd R Wilton 1356; 4th Bain and Holcombe 1356; 5th R Wilton 1356; 6th Bain and Holcombe 1354.
