BENFLEET opened up a 26-point gap at the top of Division 3 following a four-wicket win away to nearest rivals Stanford le Hope.
Stanford skipper Ross Poulton won the toss, decided to bat at Stanford Rec and saw his side bowled out for 138 in 40.4 overs.
David Noble (22) scored early runs, but the hosts then lost a raft of cheap wickets to slump to 41-6.
Poulton scored a captain’s 57 and Matthew Page contributed 31 to add some weight to Stanford’s total.
David Miles did the most damage with (5-41), with Tony Bassett taking 2-26.
Kamran Khan and Gareth Steed took one each.
Benfleet captain Paul Tremain anchored the reply with 40 and Phil Wright added 39.
Mike Tremain returned from a leg injury to hit 17 and Sean Pritchard (8no) and Steed (4no) saw Benfleet home with 139-6 from 31.3 overs.
Third placed Belhus are the next team to square up to Benfleet.
