HOME fans who booed former boss Mark Stimson when he brought his League Two Gillingham side to Grays on Saturday have been condemned by home chairman and manager Mike Woodward.
Blue Square Premier Grays won the match 1-0 thanks to a headed goal from Danny Kedwell.
Ex-Southend United and Canvey full-back Stimson led Grays to two FA Trophy final successes during his time at the club.
“Mark set the foundations here,” said Woodward. “It was all about football and it’s a legacy that I want to carry on.
“I’m learning from him all the time and know I can ring him up and he can give me advice.
“Past is past and we’re both going forward. There’s nothing wrong with ambition.
“I was disappointed with our home supporters as he’s been very loyal to us. He’ll do a good job and good luck to him.”
Grays fielded former Ipswich man Fabian Wilnis and he was commanding at the heart of defence. The trialist is expected to sign a one-year deal.
