Hammers are buzzing after victory over Bees

LAKESIDE Hammers' increasingly impressive season hit another high at Coventry tonight when the visitors recorded a fine Elite League victory.

Andreas Jonsson set the tone for Hammers with wins in the first and last heats, with three more and a second place in between.

He was ably supported by Joonas Kylmakorpi who won three heats and Jonas Davidsson who picked up two.

Honours were even after the first three heats were shared 3-3 but Hammers edged ahead with a 5-1 from Davidsson and Ricky Kling in heat four and from then on they were never headed, even though Coventry did claw their way back to get level for two heats in the middle of the evening.

Jonsson and Kylmakorpi blitzed to a maximum in heat 11 and from then on Hammers never took their foot off the gas.

Hammers had gone into the meeting on a bit of a low after Lakeside captain Adam Shields lost his battle.

The Hammers operated Rider Replacement against the 2007 league champions and while it wouldn't be fair to say he wasn't missed, his teammates managed to fill the gap admirably.
