LOOKING AHEAD: Few would have picked Basildon United as early league leaders in the Isthmian North.

Promoted as Essex Senior League runners-up last term, Marc Harrison’s side have quickly settled into life at the fourth tier of non-league.

Four wins from four and with a game in hand on all of the sides below them, tomorrow represents another chance to put points on the board at Witham Town.

Harrison has previously said he is pleased to have already accrued 12 points towards retaining their league status and is targeting another 30 in the remaining 34 games.

Witham Town have just four points after their first five matches and are in need of a positive result on home turf.

Yet while this is a match they would have earmarked for victory when the fixtures came out, the goalposts appear to have changed now.

MANAGER’S VIEW: “I am expecting a difficult game there,” said Harrison. “They are a hard working team.

“I know (Witham manager) Mark Ashford well and, despite their early season form, I can’t see Witham being down there at the end of the season. They are hard to break down and have some good experienced, high intensity footballers.

“We want to establish ourselves in this division and if we keep doing well we may re-evaluate but not at the moment.”

TEAM NEWS: Charlie Kendall and Darren Phillips may feature, Tommy Barton returns.
