LOOKING AHEAD: Billericay Town will be determined to make their mark on the FA Cup once again this year.

Having reached the first round last term, only to exit the competition to former league rivals Leatherhead, Town will not be a team many fancy drawing en route to the money-spinning ties of round one and beyond.

Burnham enter the clash as huge underdogs. Playing four tiers below Town in the Hellenic League Division One East, the Buckinghamshire side face an unenviable task.

However, a bumper crowd and potentially rewarding pay day will mean Burnham’s players are likely to relish the prospect of facing the National League South title contenders.

The match is the first for manager Dean Brennan, who takes to the dugout just five days after being appointed by owner Glenn Tamplin.

The Irishman will not want a defeat in his first game on his record, especially with Town’s lofty hopes of a prolonged run in the competition.

MANAGER’S VIEW: “The FA Cup is huge for every club and I want to win my first game in charge, of course,” said Brennan. “We are favourites but that often doesn’t count for a lot in this competition.

“I know quite a bit about Burnham and, although I only joined this week, I will have the team fully prepared before kick-off.

“We know they have speed in their team but we are confident we are well placed to qualify if we do the right things.”

TEAM NEWS: Several players will undergo late fitness tests.
