DEAN Brennan is looking to bring an ‘attack-minded philosophy’ to Billericay Town after being appointed as the club’s manager.

The former Hemel Hempstead Town boss was appointed by owner Glenn Tamplin on Tuesday - signing a three-year deal along with first team coach Stuart Maynard.

Brennan took over from Harry Wheeler, who was sacked last month, and the Irishman says his first game in charge - Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round clash against Burnham - ‘can’t come soon enough’.

“It is great to be here and we are ready to work now,” said Brennan. “We played Billericay two weeks ago and Glenn was very complimentary of us then and it went from there.

“We will have an attack-minded philosophy and our job is to make sure we achieve promotion.

“I am looking to recruit a few players to an already talented group but what is important is that we run our club accordingly. We want the right players for footballing reasons and players that want to get into the professional leagues.

“It has been a whirlwind few days but it is time to get back to reality.”

Brennan left Hemel after a six-year stint at the helm, in which he guided the Tudors into the National League South play-offs last time out.

But, despite Wheeler’s sacking last month, Brennan is confident this is the right move in his career as he looks to add players ahead of the weekend’s clash.

“You have to think about these things but I wouldn’t have made this move if it wasn’t the right thing for me,” said Brennan. “The timing is right and we know how ambitious Glenn is.

“We are trying to recruit before the weekend and the phone hasn’t stopped ringing. But we need the right players for us. We will give every player their due diligence.”

Brennan is not on Twitter or other social media channels, unlike owner Tamplin.

And he said he will be focusing on the football.

“I just want to focus on the job in hand,” he said. “I want to create a winning mentality. Glenn has done a great job publicising the club but that is not my job.”
