Saturday was a tough game for us, and tricky for me after I missed that first penalty.

I missed a penalty in the first half and I want to blame the pitch and the slope but I just caught it a bit too sweetly.

It is bizarre as I have only missed two penalties for Billericay and I have also scored a penalty in the same game both times. But I expect better of myself and the best players in the world can miss a penalty.

When the second penalty was awarded I had confidence to take it but I did wonder what the boys would say.

I looked around but they all said I should take it, which I was thankful for. I almost expected someone to take the ball but they didn’t. I never thought I would miss two in one game.

I have 11 goals in 10 games so far this season and that is pretty good. I enjoy scoring the one goal that makes the difference as much as the four in one game against Truro but every goal is good.

And it looks to be a very tough league. I would say the two best footballing sides we have played are Weston-super-Mare and Welling, which were two games we won well. Woking are top for a reason, they are well organised, have good support and are experienced as well.

There will be surprises all year and we need a little bit of luck for sure.

A lot has happened off the pitch but we just have to focus on the pitch. What happened last year means we are well versed to handle it on the pitch this year. Stuff happens and we have to accept it.

It is important we have been able to come through this spell and we are still up there. We want to come out of it in a good position, as at the moment it is going OK.

The car school is one down after Simon Walton’s move to Maidstone. It is a good move for him but it means it is just myself, Adam Coombes and Moses Emmanuel now. It was Nick Wheeler last year so I hope I am not the jinx as whoever gets in with me seems to end up leaving!
