NON-LEAGUE: AVELEY maintained their excellent start to the season with a 2-0 win over Hanwell Town in the Isthmian League Cup.
Without a game at the weekend, the Millers looked fresh against the side top of the Isthmian South on Monday.
It took Aveley just eight minutes to stamp their authority on the match. The ball dropped to the forward in the penalty area and Tom Richardson reacted quickly to slide it past keeper Brendan Hazlett.
The Millers were on top - Alex Akrofi’s effort cleared off the line before the second goal came.
Akrofi was put through and, having passed the keeper, he crossed for Richardson to chest it into the net and send James Webster’s team through.
