TEY Lynn-Jones defended his Southern Area Middleweight title belt with one of his hardest fights to date.

The 24-year-old boxed all 10 rounds against Darren Codona - who had previously gone the distance with British champion Liam Williams - but was awarded the decision at Grays’ Civic Hall at the weekend.

And the Thurrock fighter - whose record now stands at 11 wins and one defeat - said getting the victory after having to pull out of a World Youth title fight in Azerbaijan felt particularly good.

“It was great to be back fighting in my hometown in front of so many local supporters, friends and family,” said Lynn-Jones, having won the belt in Bournemouth in March.

“Getting the win against a tough, durable, awkward opponent was good not only for my experience but everyone got their value for money with 10 rounds of action before getting the win to celebrate.

“I’ve had great feedback and everyone who came and watched enjoyed it while congratulating me on the achievement of defending my belt.”

Lynn-Jones thanked his sponsors Mick Norcross & the Sugar Hut, Dave Sach & Oakfield Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, Simon Holcomb WU-SH and Tick Construction.
