HORNDON-ON-THE-HILL lost a third consecutive match as Leigh on Sea eased to an emphatic victory in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Two.
A 138 run win for the away side came as a crushing blow to a Horndon team that had started the season impressively.
Leigh won the toss and went about building a good total, thanks to the efforts of opening pair Jon Edwards (109 not out) and Stuart Elliott (53).
Leigh closed on 262/7 in 50 overs, with Harry James (2-43) and Ryan Madder (2-51) among the wickets for Horndon.
Horndon got off to a wretched start in their reply and were 18/3 before James Hutcherson (30) and Jeff West (24) went about rebuilding the damage.
But they were all out for 124 at the close.
In Division Three, Stanford-le-Hope made it back-to-back wins after an eight wicket win against Westcliff.
The hosts were put into bat and totalled just 176, Jon Pratt (47) top scoring. Adam Knight took 4-34 in an excellent 10 over spell. Alex Ellis (82 not out) and Ben Kent (51) saw Stanford over the line.
