THURROCK lost their third consecutive match in Division One South as CS Rugby romped to an emphatic 46-20 win in freezing conditions.

At a venue Thurrock have struggled at in recent times, the game did not start well for the visitors.

A converted try down inside two minutes, Thurrock then lost influential captain Reece Durrance through injury.

Trailing 7-0, Jake Barrand kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit before numerous penalties kept the visitors on the backfoot and the CS scored a second try.

But back came Thurrock and the deficit was reduced to only two points after fly-half Ben Stanley made a decisive break and duly offloaded for Ben Stimson as Thurrock scored their first try.

Barrand converted the extras to make it 12-10 only for the hosts to run away with the game before half-time.

Three more tries secured the bonus point with Thurrock 29-10 down at the interval.

Spurred on by impressive debutant Jake Bedding, Thurrock again refused to roll over and Barrand went over to make it 29-15.

They were unable to capitalise on this and when Thurrock saw a player sin-binned for 10 minutes the writing was on the wall.

Another try was scored, followed by another yellow card but, despite being down to 13 men, it was Thurrock that got the next score.

Freddie Russo put the visitors to within a try of a bonus point but it was CS that had the last laugh to complete the scoring.

Next up, Thurrock host Gravesend at 3pm on Saturday.
