RUGBY: Thames Rugby Club prospect Sean Loughran turned out for Essex in a recent county match against Sussex.
Loughran, as well as Rhys Dell, had been trialling for the under-18sā Essex squad, with the former included for the first game of four as replacement hooker.
Although the match on Sunday ended in defeat, Loughran came on in the second half and impressed.
Elsewhere, the first XV crushed Basildon 3s 95-12 in the Shepherd Neame Essex Merit Table Division Four.
Five tries in the first half - from Kyle Munro (two), Ryan Edgeway and a quickfire Max Clarke brace put Thames 29-12 up at the interval.
But they came alive after the break and went try crazy.
Clarke completed his hat-trick and went on to score four, and there were further scores for Munro, Matt Vallis, Ryan Slaney, Marcus Edgeway, Edgar Juska, Lee Cairns, Liam Smith and Morgan Podmore.
