Tambeson Eyong has been released by Grays Athletic without making a competitive appearance for the club.
Eyong joined Jamie Stuart's side earlier this summer after having his contract at Isthmian Premier League side Billericay Town terminated by mutual consent.
But the former Canvey Island and AFC Hornchurch defender has now departed Parkside.
Grays Athletic's official Twitter account confirmed Eyong's unexpected departure in a tweet this afternoon.
The tweet read: "The club can confirm that Tambeson Eyong has been released. No further comment will be made regarding this."
Eyong, who worked previously with Grays boss Stuart at Margate, had been brought into the side as Grays look to win promotion back to the Isthmian Premier League at the first time of asking.
But Stuart may now look at bringing in another defender to bolster his squad ahead of the season getting underway at Tilbury on Saturday, August 12.
