John Wayne Hibbert made a successful return to professional boxing after defeating Arvydas Trizno on points at the Brentwood Centre.
The Horndon-on-the-Hill fighter got the better of the Lithuanian on points (60-55) over six rounds to chalk up an 18th professional victory.
Hibbert had moved up to welterweight for the bout and put in a usual busy performance, albeit there was not much between the two men.
He landed several strong body punches and was rarely troubled by his well-travelled opponent in the MTK Summer Showdown.
The fight was Hibbert’s first since last November, when he was surprisingly beaten by Martin Gethin at Wembley Arena.
Hibbert, who has a new team, is now looking ahead to his next fight, with his rumoured opponent being former professional footballer Curtis Woodhouse.
Currently manager of non-league side Bridlington Town, Woodhouse has won 22 of his 29 fights to date.
