HORNDON-ON-THE-HILL made it back-to-back wins after defeating Old Brentwoods in SNEL Division Two.

Horndon won by one wicket, albeit Old Brentwoods made a strong start with the bat.

And they continued to take wickets with every chance taken in the field, although the home side’s tail dragged Brentwoods to 165 - skipper Jeff West Jr taking four wickets.

Mo Asif struck 89 from just 104 balls, with only three of the other batsmen getting into double figures.

Horndon 2s were comfortable winners against OBs, winning by 10 wickets.

Dave Cracknall took three wickets, Rob Hutcherson hit 60 not out and Danny Freeman 76 not out as Horndon made it eight wins in a row.

The 3s chased down Stanford-le-Hope 3s’ total of 163 in 29 overs - Jack Outten picking up three wickets and Mark Witts hitting 65 not out.

The 4s were beaten by seven wickets against Orsett.

Harry Philpott hit a tremendous 105 not out as Horndon failed to make it a clean sweep of wins.

The visitors posted 176-4, which a strong Orsett side chased down in 34 overs.

Elsewhere, there was an eight-wicket defeat for Orsett & Thurrock in SNEL Division One, as they were comprehensively beaten by Buckhurst Hill.

And Stanford-le-Hope fell 69 runs short against Ardleigh Green in Division Three as they were also beaten.
