HORNDON-ON-THE-HILL travelled to T-Rippon Mid-Essex League high-flyers Bentley for the Essex and Suffolk National Village Cup final - and won in fine style.
Bentley elected to bat but soon regretted their decision after losing opener Ashley Parmenter in the second over when Martin Sayers produced a sublime catch at gully off the bowling of Stephen Edwards.
Connor Hammond also picked up an early wicket as wickets continued to fall.
At 35-4, Bentley were in trouble as excellent fielding from Scott Plom off skipper Jeff West Jnr, plus fine bowling from Dan Stone continued to apply the pressure.
A brilliant fielding and bowling display from Horndon saw the home team all out for just 94 runs.
Horndon’s openers Tom Stone and Jack Walsh made quick work of the total, chasing the total in just 20 overs for the loss of no wicket.
Stone finishing 76* from 61 balls and Walsh 17* from 57 means that Horndon are winners of the Essex and Suffolk Area Group.
