THE AmDTuning.com with Cobra Exhausts team showed glimpses of its potential as the new British GT Championship campaign burst into life at Oulton Park.
It was the start of a new era for the West Thurrock-based outfit, with Ryan Ratcliffe and Lee Mowle qualifying inside the top 10.
Mowle started well but, on lap 10, he went off into the barriers with the incident seeing the damaged car drop well down the order to close in 10th.
Repairs to the car were completed just minutes before the start of race two, with both drivers lapping quickly and consistently to reward the team with a seventh place finish in a race that was halted early after an accident at Hilltop, one that Mowle was fortunate to avoid being caught up in.
The AmD team ended the weekend eighth in the championship standings.
Round three of the year is at Rockingham at the end of the month.
Team boss Shaun Hollamby said: “The race at Rockingham is one that should suit the Mercedes, and we’re confident Lee and Ryan will be in the mix for a strong result.”
